Xperience Design Iconset (36 × 36) 7.3.1998
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Copyright, Licence and Annotations B. Ludewig
This Iconset has been created in 1996 to improve the visual standard on
Risc OS computers and has been extended since then. All graphics included
within this archive were created and are copyrighted by Bernhard Ludewig
and Martin Willers / xm.arts.
The symbols called ‘display’, ‘file_ffb’ and ‘file_fff’ have been created
after the example of similar icons belonging to the NeXT operating system.
In addition to a core of completely new designed ones, there are many
variations of common Risc OS icons which are fitted to this set.
These icons are for private use only and may be copied as long as
- no changes are made within the graphics & accompanying files and
- no charge is taken.
Any commercial use (eg. the utilisation on commercial presentations), as
well as publication on disks, CD-ROM, internet servers etc. must be
authorized by Xperience Media Arts.
To use icons out of this set, copy the graphics you like into a new
sprite-file. In case you want to change the names of filetype icons, the
list-of-types included within this archive may help you to find the correct
icon name for the filetypes we know.
To use sprites from the file ‘textures’ as window background tiles, you have
to rename them: an icon called ‘tile_1-8’ will be used in 8 bit/256 colour
modes, ‘tile_1-16’ in 16 bit/32K and ‘tile_1-32’ in TrueColour modes.
After having created your individual spritefile, you may activate it using
the command *Iconsprites <name of your spritefile>.
To boot the icons when starting your computer, have a look inside your
RiscPC boot directory: just place your spritefile info the directory
‘!boot.choices.boot.predesk’.
Known problems:
- some new icons which are larger than the original ones (eg. ‘harddisc’)
are only displayed correctly when they are booted at startup.
- some cdfs will ignore icons from ‘!boot.choices.boot.predesk.sprites’;
to fix this, locate your desktop boot file (default location:
‘!boot.choices.boot.desktop’) and add the line
‘Iconsprites <path+name of your icons>’
